Fashion's favourite Acne Studios and beloved backpack brand Fjällräven unite on a collection centred on outdoor gear
It could be as elementary as walking through the neighbourhood park instead of round its perimeter to get to the train station, or as onerous as embarking on a seven-day trek in Patagonia. Any effort, big or small, to be with nature is what Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven is all about; their garments and accessories born to further fuel this desire by well equipping an individual for its unpredictable conditions. The great outdoors, their stamping ground. The arena of style? Well, the brand hands the baton over to Acne Studios here, a fellow Swede known for their killer aesthetics.
As both brands come together in this alchemy, the fruits are a co-collection of signature Fjällräven pieces — down jackets, the Kånken and anoraks — that retain their functional and performance-based core while sporting an Acne Studios veneer. It's a punchier colour palette and prints the products are painted in; a little oomph in the detailing that kicks appearances up a notch; a clever, new way to carry the iconic Kanken; and a selection of patch-pocket and graphic tees tacked on that speak of Acne's commercial forte. Immortalising the liaison is a joint logo that sees the two labels trading fonts.
In interest of ensuring the collaboration products live up to the brand's standards of utility, Henrik Andersson, Fjällräven's Head of Innovation and Design said, "We allowed Acne Studios to play around with our product icons, but we were pretty stubborn when it came to unnecessary details because by our definition, everything that is added but doesn't serve a clear purpose lowers the overall functionality of the product."
