8 Moncler Palm Angels: Insta-bait puffer jackets and streetwear to scratch that street style itch
Moncler's Palm Angels capsule — the eighth released under the brand's ambitious Genius Group concept — has landed at Dover Street Market Singapore. Full of slogan-adorned streetwear and ski apparel, the collection's hoodies, parkas, trackpants and puffer jackets were an instant hit with the fashion crowd at its Milanese debut in February. Incidentally, Palm Angels, a skate culture and Americana-driven label that began life as a coffee table book of photos, is the passion project of Moncler's artistic director Francesco Ragazzi.
We've just about seen it all when it comes to designer collaborations, from Moschino x H&M to Christian Lacroix's guest collection for Schiaparelli Couture. But Moncler's Genius Group takes the collab to the next level, enlisting the starry likes of Valentino's Pierpaolo Piccioli, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Kei Ninomiya and others to produce one-off collections for fall 2018.
Having recently ended its long-term relationships with Giambattista Valli and Thom Browne, the Italian skiwear specialist understands that novelty is the latest name of the fashion game. Better yet, each major designer in its rotating series brings in tow a different, built-in following, making the Genius Group concept a stroke of marketing, well, genius.
