Best dressed at Venice Film Festival 2016 — Day 1: Textural escapade
Ever since its inaugural beginning in 1932, the Venice Film Festival has been lauded for its Italian finesse, amorous scenes and of course, the best dressed. And this year is no exception. The 73rd Venice Film Festival kicked off with the gala premiere of La La Land — as well as a myriad of stars putting their best sartorial foot forward.
The first day of the festival saw diverse textures, and going for platinum is La La Land star Emma Stone in a custom-made Atelier Versace gown. She dazzled and put a futuristic twist on the Roaring 20s' jazzy flapper dress with silver fringing, while Italian street fashion darling Eleonora Carisi took a plunge into the deep V in a cascading mid-length lace frock. On a subtler note, actress and this year's juror Gemma Arterton tantalises with a game of intricate peek-a-boo. Daring with beads or delicate in frills, scroll down for the best looks from day one.
