Love the West Coast? Mr Porter collaborates with 12 designers on a Californian dream
Made in California
States, or cities for that matter, with as persuasive a culture as California remains few and far between. Like the cardinal cocktail history in New Orleans that's trickled into many a tipple we sip from the world over today, California has unparalleled power over numerous design creatives. Contemporarily, Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent renounced the romance of Paris for sun-drenched Los Angeles and Raf Simons, a regular caller and would-be resident if not for his design duties elsewhere, reported the The New York Times.
Most recently, it's online retailer Mr Porter that's fallen under the spell of the golden coast.
The e-tailer has teamed up with 12 designers who pledge allegiance to California in one way or another, namely Amiri, The Elder Statesman, Golden Bear, James Perse, Noon Goons, Simon Miller, Stüssy, Second/Layer, Mollusk, Outerknown, John Elliott and Rick Owens.
"We felt that California is extremely important to us as a state within the States, both commercially and on an inspiration level. California in itself feels like a broader trend right now, not just within fashion but within lifestyle as a whole," Mr Porter's buying manager Sam Lobban explains.
