Massimo Dutti demonstrates the art of longevity with a cosy fall collection

Winter is coming

Text: Andrea Sim

Made for fall/winter 2017, but good for eternity

Humans are a species resistant to change. Call it the quest for comfort; the surety of knowing there are constants anchoring our existence in any situation. When it comes to our wardrobe, our best suit is broken out for important client meets, the precious suede bomber called upon for a boost of confidence when getting drinks with a love interest. The pre-requisite? Longevity. An immunity to fashion's ever-changing whims and fancies — precisely Spanish label Massimo Dutti's stamping ground.

Its fall/winter men's collection of cosy knits, handsome coats, and tailored trousers may have been designed for 2017, but will hold their own down the road. Heck, we'll guarantee that a merlot woollen jumper will be just as becoming in 2030 as it is today. But to prove time withstanding, a supreme standard is the cornerstone.

Like, the seams of a topcoat well hidden — so as not to distract from its impeccable form. The front of a pinstripe trouser, pleated — telling of a man (and not a boy's) appreciation for the good ol' classics. The body of a leather jacket treated, pre-worn in — to steer its wearer in the direction of Marlon Brando's rugged alpomb sans punk connotations. Imbued in autumnal yet timeless hues of tan, grey, navy and black, double down on the edit that'll see you through to eternity:
