All you need to know about the Louis Vuitton x Fragment collab popping up at Surrender
If you thought the Supreme collaboration was all that men's artistic director Kim Jones had in store for us this year, here's where you're mistaken. Riffing off the streetside high that has the world coveting a piece of the French brand, Louis Vuitton's latest coup involves Japanese label Fragment Design — led by Jones and the latter's Hiroshi Fujiwara for a co-branded fall 2017 pre-collection.
"Hiroshi Fujiwara is an influencer in the truest sense of the work — he is a true icon of mine," shared Jones. "With this collaboration, I wanted to do something quite unexpected, something perhaps more youthful than we usually do. Hiroshi has that understanding of detail that comes from [being] Japanese — he simply knows everything."
Inspired by the '80s art scene of New York (specifically, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring), the unlikely bedfellows present a logo-led menswear collection dreamt up for 'Louis V and The Fragments' — a make-believe music act that sums up the spirit of the creative mash. Its varsity jackets, sailor caps and uniform-inspired ready-to-wear could very well be the stage wardrobe of an indie-rock band on tour. Bearing the words 'Paris', 'Tokyo', 'Louis Vuitton' and 'Fragment', here's all the details you logoheads need to score a piece at their upcoming pop-up at Surrender:
