“One small step…”: Out-of-this-world shoes that are made just for (moon)walking
Neil Armstrong may have first walked the on the moon in 1969... But it took until 1983 for Michael Jackson to turn 'moonwalking' into a dance craze, although the history of similar moves stretches decades back. The classic moonwalk is characterised by a smooth, almost frictionless glide that seemingly defies the laws of physics, accounting for its name; the pedants among us would argue, however, that it's a misnomer since friction is like, totally still a thing in outer space.
Whatever the nomenclature or laws of motion behind it, we can all agree that (good) moonwalking is frickin' cool. MJ may have favoured a pair of classic tasselled loafers to get groovy to, but we think it'd be fun to play up the moonwalk's inappropriately space-y title — kinda like how Alanis Morrisette gamely owns her misuse of Ironic. To that end, here's some of the most out-of-this-world footwear to dance your heart out in.
