The Valentino SS18 runway pieces we’re coveting
Who would have thought that Paris would be hotter than Milan? As the menswear fashion sets migrated north from Milan to the City of Lights, do did the mercury — kicking off the first day of Paris men's fashion week with a top of 38 degrees Celsius. What a scorcher. But it wasn't just the streets that were on fire.
On the Valentino spring/summer 2018 runway, Pierpaolo Piccioli sent out a covetable collection of athletic street wear infused with the detailing and savoir-faire that Valentino is renowned for. Some may say it wasn't groundbreaking — after all, the "casualisation of menswear" has been a dominant trend for a few years now — but it was the execution of this aesthetic that had us salivating.
Favourite pieces? The new 'VLTN' logo white tee that's destined to sell like hot cakes; all those rectangular cross-body leather bags in bright primaries worn high and close to the chest (akin to the bum-bag trend currently dominating street style); that red tracksuit matching set with a double white stripe running down the left chest and left leg; and the truncated jackets in chevron stripes of green, blue and ivory. All very wearable, and all very now.
