Metal grommets. Silk dresses. Nylon jackets. Isabel Marant reminds us why everyone wants to raid her quintessential Parisian party wardrobe

The set: It's literally lights, camera, action at Isabel Marant's spring/summer 2018 show. The venue at Palais-Royal warmed with yellow lights under a see through tent — just what we needed on a drizzly Thursday evening in Paris.

The collection: 'Another Sleepless Night' — the electro house track by Jasper Forks — pumped through Isabel Marant's collection of pretty day separates and after-dark frocks. The Marant girl has never been the wallflower, but this season, she comes up top as the life of the party. You know, the kind that has the intuition to walk in as the champagne gets poured and leaves right before the routine gets old — which is around 3am — to a private party. The Parisian designer churned out crisp leg of mutton cotton tops with bust cups, black midi overalls piped in gold (that emphasise the legs), and sunken florals printed on holographic silk — giving her toga top, off-shoulder puff sleeve dress, and even a raincoat, some of that cool gal zing. Can you imagine any of these on a girl that ends the night prematurely? Come on. Another key trend we spotted amidst the flashing spotlights (look out, It-girl making an entrance) were the Fresh Prince of Bel Air '80s nylon jackets and the equally sporty oh-so-shiny jumpsuits with elastic hems — the latter of which was worn with the top down, knotted around the waist. And because this is Isabel Marant, bad girl extraordinaire, the bodycon mini skirt, crystal embellished shorts and pants punctured with grommets were cinched with utilitarian belts. Even the eyelets and tiered ruffle muslin pieces were delivered with ample attitude. That took skills.

Buro loves: The sky-high black suede stilettos with bedazzled ankle straps. Also available in different sandal styles with even more bling.
