Paris Fashion Week SS16: Loewe

Plastic fantastic

Text: Dora Aljoofri-Shrestha

Jonathan Anderson’s third outing for the Madrid-based luxury house was a bold experimentation in materials

The venue: Held at the UNESCO Paris headquarters, the outdoor show had guests seated on cling wrapped concrete cubes and "stools" in various shapes — a hint of what was to come.

Standout looks: After seeing the first look, we were trying to get our heads around the cling wrap trousers. Then came another in clear plastic, and a few looks later, a bustier also made out of cling wrap. Shocking at first but, not long after, the transparent looks grew on us. Clearly impractical but still pure genius.

Buro loves: The tinsel tassel ensembles and dangling bracelets that reminded us of the tinsel party décor craze three years back.

I spy: Logomania is making a huge comeback next season. For the Spanish house, monochromatic logos were printed on tunics, sweaters, bomber jackets, and trousers — both in Loewe's typography and insignia.

Something you might have missed: The Amazona bag was given the logo treatment and the house's latest signature Puzzle bag is now available in transparent rubber.
