Paris Fashion Week SS16: Haider Ackermann

Paris Fashion Week SS16: Haider Ackermann

Pretty grungy

Text: Andrea Sim

If you've ever envisioned a grunge-punk Barbie, then you're in good company. Haider Ackermann's spring collection is preloaded with 'tude and rainbow hair highlights

The looks: Deep tones brought the attitude and candy hues were worn with irony. The Haider Ackermann girl may be tough, but she'll take on the pastels. Trousers (ribbed leather and chartreuse satin alike) were slung so low on the hip you caught a glimpse of netted undergarments; flounced-hem slip dresses were paired with leather jackets; and vests and boleros worn sans top were precariously positioned, but still kept the show PG-13.

The hair: A cross between My Little Pony and Barbie's trip to the salon gone wrong, the hair of the models were teased, plastered and wraped around their faces in all shades of the colour wheel.

Favourite outfit: Look 20. That contrast between dainty satin and sturdy leather is the punk princess's dream. Add on zebra stripes and polka dots, and you've got a winner.

Buro loves: The styling on look 25 — a cropped jacket secured at only at the top worn with a high-waisted bias-cut skirt over trousers, leaving a triangular section of skin exposed. Ingenius.

Favourite accessory: The pastel organza chokers (look 8). It's no secret that the '90s accessory is back in a big way, but an organza choker? That's the first we've seen, not to mention that it's something you can DIY now.
