Paris Fashion Week SS16: Céline

A lesson in contrast

Phoebe Philo serves up a travel wardrobe designed for women looking for an adventure

Set design: Held at the Tennis Club de Paris (every year), this season the space was transformed from its usual clean minimalist aesthetic to a colour block tent with dirt floor within — in collaboration with Danish artist, FOS.

The looks: Shapes, cuts, and fabrications are Phoebe Philo's signatures, but the spring/summer 2016 collection took a gentle turn with lace slips, nipped waistlines and pleating. Feminine looks were contrasted with mannish tailoring and tough boots, of course.

The bags: Every season, fashion insiders, influencers, fashionistas and the everyday girl wait in anticipation for the new Celine IT bag. Come SS16, there will be a bevy of them to choose from. Our picks: The cut-out bucket and puffer bags.

Worth the investment: The coats and dresses with a ribbed knit mid section. Why? Because who doesn't need clothes that make you look like you have a tiny waist and an hourglass figure? We do.

Overheard from the front row: While trying to take in every single look that Phoebe Philo sent our way, guests were surprised at how swiftly the show ended. Leaving all of us wanting more.
