Paris Fashion Week SS16: Acne Studios
Hairy situation: Is 19-year-old British model, Ruth Bell, spearheading a revolution? One of three models to open the Acne Studios SS16 collection with buzz cuts — the rest of the girls sported bangs with slicked back sides, save for the final two exits — it appears that the tide may be turning from de riguer luscious locks to something harder and edgier. Also consider the platinum blonde hair on Lady Gaga and Lexi Boling in Tom Ford's SS16 digital runway video. Punk is clearly the new black.
The collection: The King of understated Scandinavian cool, designer Jonny Johansson, eschewed the heavy blanket fabrics of last season in favour of cropped dresses layered under black halter neck bustiers; perforated long-sleeve knits in rich cobalt; blown-up polkadots slathered on velvet shifts; and guitar motifs emblazoned across jackets and Capri trousers.
I spy: Statement clutches and giant bucket bags finished with geometric knots, and futuristic shooting-star shades à la Star Trek. The future is bright.
Something you might have missed: The gathered ankle guards in brightly coloured faux fur and black leather adorning platform flip-flops.
Favourite look: The final exit of a black peak-lapel jacket (worn as a dress) with a pair of mirrored electric guitars embellished across the chest, and anchored with red-and-white striped slip-ons. Buzz hair cut for the win.
