Best show from NYFW FW17 Day 1: Thakoon
New York Fashion Week
THAKOON: INTRICATE SUBTLETIES
The show set: The Chelsea space for this collection could have easily convinced the audience that it was an interactive art exhibition. Attendees were treated to pink, yellow and red rose petals strewn across the entire floor, while a video of abstract pastels floated across the screens like clouds — accompanied by dream-like music that filled the space.
The collection: Despite it being the fall/winter 2017 show season, Thakoon showed for spring as one of the many New York designers participating in the 'see now, buy now' concept — one that saw Tom Ford, Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger and more take to the last season. Designer Thakoon Panichgul enforced his reputation for attention to detail and his flair for arresting prints and colors (looks 1, 3 & 8), offering up a melange of bold primaries, stripes and florals. More effortless, were the periwinkle blue ensembles (looks 5 & 6) made for breezing through the spring chill and summer heat respectively.
I spy: Block-heel leather sandals perfect for tackling both the pavements and the beach. Hardly your average affair when whipped up by Panichgul in a covetable two-tone (looks 3, 4, 7, 8 & 9).
