London Men's Fashion Week SS16: Hardy Amies

Sporting tradition

London Men's Fashion Week SS16: Hardy Amies
While one automatically associates Hardy Amies with traditional Savile Row tailoring, their spring/summer 2016 collection marks a subtle shift towards a sportier, relaxed aesthetic

1. The rise of sportswear
Creative director Mehmet Ali took cues from sportswear this season, turning windbreakers and scuba jackets into some of the freshest outerwear pieces to hit the runways thus far.

2. Colour is your best friend
Bold colours are on the menu for spring — but in moderation. The Amies man can expect dashes of neon yellow in his jacket lining, cobalt blue accessories and the occasional peek of brilliant orange.

3. Check, mate.
Plaid is retuning again next season, and with good reason. Whether on single or double-breasted jackets, elegant glen plaids and Prince of Wales checks turned up as a major theme.

4. Going to the trenches
Ali reinvented the classic trenchcoat giving it a more relaxed look this season. In particular, we're fans of the white incarnation with black piping — very Kingsman meets David Bowie circa his Thin White Duke phase.

5. Shady business
We don't know about you, but those sunglasses Ali sent down the runway has us pining for summer 2016 already.
