Best show from NYFW FW17 Day 8: Marc Jacobs
New York Fashion Week
MARC JACOBS: A NEW YORK LOVE STORY
The collection: Inspired by the hip-hop culture of his city, Marc Jacobs combined the understated elegance of camel colours (looks 26 & 28) and wide-leg trousers (looks 32, 37 & 41) with effortlessly cool pieces like a red tracksuit (look 40) and a dramatic series of oversized hats (looks 4, 6, 9 & 27). Ditching the traditional runway, models paraded down the sidewalk outside Park Avenue Armory to street side chatter and taxi horns. Whether it was his worker-style shearling coats (looks 10 & 16), shades of whiskey and red wine (looks 31 & 32) or the thick gold-plated chain with a mouse pendant (looks 14, 17 & 20), each piece in the show that brought NYFW to an end was an affirmative nod to the streets of New York.
I spy: Katy Perry, Mandy Moore, Anna Dello Russo and Lil' Kim were some of the famous faces at the Park Avenue Armory show.
Something you might have missed: What happened when the fashion editors left their seats? Models took their place in jest, snapping selfies and looking into their phones just like the fashion elite that had come to see them walk down the runway moments before.
