#ThrowbackThursday: Hedi Slimane's inaugural Dior Homme collection
Fashion's genius
Right in the middle of all the men's spring/summer shows, we take a look back at one of the most influential menswear collections of all time
What is fashion, if not reinvention? Back in 2001, Hedi Slimane presented a seminal fall/winter collection that would shape the course of modern menswear. It earned him big time fans (such as Karl Lagerfeld) and cemented his status as a serious player in the design field. Slimane's codes — the cool rocker aesthetic; slim cut, razor sharp suits — have filtered into mainstream menswear and bear an allure that is not likely to dissipate with time. With staying power like this, it's hardly a question of if — but when — Slimane's genius will place him among fashion's canon of sartorial saints. Here, we take a look at Slimane's visual diary of that defining FW01 Dior Homme collection.
