Ray-Ban x Steven Klein: A visual tale of freedom, optimism and the journey within
Snickers says, "You're not you when you're hungry". But what feeds the soul more than it feeds the body is freedom. A privilege that should be a human right, freedom in the hands of those who are able to exercise it is an expression of liberation, subverting constraints — from expectations, from responsibilities, from the past, even from the self.
Continuing his theme of escapism (Steven Klein shot Ray-Ban icons for the brand's 80th anniversary in 2017), Klein furthers this narrative with four personalities: Soo Joo Park, Austin Kellogg, Constanze Saemann and Markel Williams. Here, they leave the city behind for their individual adventures, driving into the sunset, dancing in the wind, making music at a pit-stop, hitching a ride, hoping to find themselves along the way.
"Everybody's looking for their own personal freedom," Klein says. "Living in turbulent times, one of the things that evokes that for many people is a road trip. This campaign represents that no matter what hardships come your way, you can be an individual, go on your own path and experience fun, optimism, creativity and love."
