Off-White x Nike: Virgil Abloh turns out a football collection coloured with memories of his past
"Football, Mon Amour"
While Dior Homme's Kim Jones drew from the '70s punk movement for his Nike football collection, Off-White's Virgil Abloh has opted for inspiration closer to home. The creative director's personal memories — that of listening to hip-hop tunes on route to football matches and his actual jersey numbers — inform the Off-White range titled "Football, Mon Amour".
The numericals '12' and '9' adorn its tees and shorts, while other garments (hoodies, outwear and socks) feature signature Off-White detailing such as the diagonal stripes and quotation marks. The collaboration sneaker, a Zoom Fly in Mercurial flyknit created in tandem with NikeLab, boasts a dot detailing on its upper — an homage to the atheletes' dedication to the sport and available in two colourways.
