MCM makes noise with four mini collections of music-inspired accessories
Hear ye, hear ye
A mash-up of old school iconography, leopard print and suede of the '70s
Germany's nightlife has long wooed travellers the world over eager for a taste of its fabled underground raves and floor-tremoring beats. For most, surrendering a night to the flow of its vibrant music scene is a once in a lifetime experience. But for MCM, it's practically stomping ground having been bred in the thick of it since 1976, inspiring the Munich accessories brand to dedicate it's fall 2018 collection to these roots.
Rapper Rich the Kid and DJ plus rising star Sita Abellan — pictured above — are in front of MCM's campaign lenses this season, given that the two musicians embody the genres (hip-hop and techno, respectively) known to bring the house down in the city. Its a harmonious tune parlayed across the accessories, with a brand new Cassette range that sees old school music iconography take the limelight as vinyls, cassette tapes and DJ controllers enliven clutches, top handles, pouches and card holders.
The theme then reverberates in less literal spin-offs, calling upon styles and fabrications associated with music. Cue: leopard print pieces that are resoundingly rock-inspired, a sleek line designed to be entirely hands-free in spirit of grooving the night away, and suede logo bags in tribute to the golden days of '70s disco.
