Jimmy Choo brings the whimsy of a botanical wonderland to your feet
Art meets accessory
These are perhaps three of the most stereotypical terms conjured each time spring/summer rolls around. And before you think that creative director Sandra Choi's ode to blooms this year is standard, you need to see Jimmy Choo's stunning new accessories.
Falling Gardens — the whimsical botanical installation by contemporary artists Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger — is central to the footwear luminary's designs this season, in which Choi's inspiration is the human ability to comprehend and express pure beauty; a rarity in this digital century.
"I considered the sensibility it takes to be attuned to this kind of beauty. What it takes to have the perspective both to see it, and in a way, also to be it?" shared Choi.
The result is a fantastical contrast of Steiner and Lenzlinger's flourescent petals with their earthy tones — they come forth in glimpses, distilled with the bold, unapologetic 'tude of being comfortable in one's skin. Legends Frida Kahlo and David Bowie were on the peripherals of Choi's mind too. Executed in Jimmy Choo's code of modern day glamour, behold, the breathtaking accessories you'll don far beyond July.
