These Tommy Hilfiger sunglasses are the antidote to the micro frame trend
Break the rules
Yes, yes we know. Micro frames are all the rage right now. We first waxed lyrical about the sunglasses last August, and though seven months have since passed (seven months in the fashion world is equivalent to approximately two years in the real world) the trend is still going strong. Seen up and down the streets of Milan and Paris during fashion week, the consensus among street style stars and editors alike is that this will be the biggest accessory of 2018.
On the other hand, one almost feels the trend already approaching dangerous levels oversaturation. After all, trends come and go, and in this age of social media and online shopping, they come and go a lot quicker than they used to. How do you overcome this modern dilemma? By forging your own path. Going against the grain. Playing by your own rules.
These oversized flat top sunglasses, the product of the fourth and final collaboration between Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid, is a good place to start. An antidote to its micro sister, we consider the oversized retro piece to be a stylish middle finger to the fashion sovereignty.
Named the TH GIGIHADID 4, they feature a vintage-sque Optyl flat-shaped front, brought forward into 2018 with tinted lenses and metal temples. Choose from three colourways — black front with black temples, cubic black and white end-tips with orange cosmetic lenses; white front with gold temples, cubic grey and white end-tips with cherry cosmetic lenses; and black front with ruthenium temples, and black and white end-tips with grey lenses.
The TH GIGIHADID 4 sunglasses are available online.
