Feit’s Latex Low sneakers: Why this new, biodegradable design stands head and shoulders above the rest
New York-based Feit’s sneakers, due to their time-consuming and hand-sewn manufacture, come in extremely limited quantities. That small-batch process, fortunately, also allows for some interesting and unconventional design choices. With its new Latex Low shoes — an update of the brand’s ‘60s-inspired Hand Sewn Low featuring buffalo leather uppers and cork insoles — Feit has managed to create an all-natural, completely synthetic-free sneaker. Even its cushioned sole, which other brands usually adulterate with plastic, is derived from pure, translucent rubber latex that’s 100% biodegradable; although, with only 60 pairs each of white and tan Latex Lows available on its website, they’ll probably disappear long before we get to see that happen.
