Watch the mesmerising handwork that went into Delvaux's Couture Exclusive Collection
Kingdom of Belgium
A knight's shield, a queen's armoury, a king's lust for power and the heart of an enchantress. This fall/winter 2017, Delvaux dives deep into four baroque fantasies, each inspiring beguiling stories and art of their own which make the limited edition Delvaux Couture Exclusive Collection.
Take the 'Iron Shield' bag, covered in superimposed layers of leather scales reflective of the seductive glint of heroism. Note the brass detailing, fabricated by Swiss clockmakers and galvanised in France, that embellishes the 'Queen's Desire' bag; the emblem on 'Golden Glory', a clasp set ablaze by a ruler's reign and eternal beauty; and the tone-on-tone dimension on 'Black Beauty', a moniker derived from the inky flower petals embroidered with pearls and stitched onto lizard skins — a corollary of the darkened heart of an exiled witch.
While not technically a couturier, the savoir-faire of the Belgium maison rivals that of storied houses in Paris. The proof is documented in a series of behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the Couture Exclusive Collection, one of which can be viewed above.
Four bags, four stories and a lucky charm each (some worn as crossbodies) for happy endings. Because, what's a fairy tale without?
Delvaux's Couture Exclusive Collection is available at #01-18 Scotts Square.
