Converse and Brain Dead's Chuck 70 sneakers deliver graphic, pattern-clashed madness
Shouldn't work, but totally does
Converse's collab with L.A. streetwear brand/collective Brain Dead has borne some striking fruit: Chuck 70 sneakers designed to look pieced together from fabric scraps on the factory floor. Camo (the first pattern to adorn a shoe from the brand, in 1983), American flag motifs, plus zebra and leopard prints make for some gleefully OTT combinations, and are topped off with Brain Dead's logo and text-wrapped midsoles.
While we applaud Brain Dead's countercultural messaging, we can't wait to wear — with self-conscious irony — sneaks that read "who controls the control men" while we work persistently to uphold the capitalist fashion construct.
