What you can expect from SPARK Fest 2018, Asia’s first sexual wellness festival
When was the last time you had an open, honest and judgement-free discussion about sex? Sex and relationship counsellor Erin Chen and yoga instructor Sinnead Ali are coming together to create sparks - Sexual Pleasure and Relationship Konversations, that is. With all that talk about conscious living, the duo aims to break the wall and provide a space to bring conversations about sex, pleasure and relationships into the open.
Backed by STRIP, you can expect a festival that curates expert panels, art installations and workshops, coupled with a market to grab food and other indulgences. Meet like-minded folks to talk shop about the mystery of female orgasms, the evolution of the modern man and the quality sex education. Apart from talks, you can check out STRIP Yoniscape, an installation that presents visuals of women taking off the lid on issues of shame, self-consciousness and fear of the unknown. There's also a photography series of women before, during and after they climax through self-pleasure.
Speakers include sexologist and youth sex education expert Sanderijn Van Der Doef, host Anita Kapoor, founder of Smile Makers Matthias Hulting and gynaecologist Julinda Lee. The last time we saw the likes of Chen and STRIP come together was for an exhilarating staging of The Vagina Monologues - and if that’s a taste of things to come, you can expect open, witty dialogues among honest-to-goodness individuals of influence.
