Watch now: The first trailer for Suicide Squad
Notes from the underbelly
Sometimes, it takes a leak to get things going. Every year, the San Diego Comic-Con features the premiere of some highly anticipated trailers — but in the case of Suicide Squad, it took a smartphone leak to nudge director David Ayer to release its official, HD version.
While set pictures revealing Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jared Leto as The Joker and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn have been floating around for some time now, the trailer gives a first look at them in action. We're psyched for the live action debuts of the Enchantress and Harley Quinn, and what Delevingne and Robbie will bring to their characters — expect a darker, tormented version of their magical and zany natures.
There's much to love about this trailer: a Batman sighting, and the haunting rendition of the Bee Gees number, I Started A Joke. Of course, The Joker gives the trailer the chilling finish it deserves, inciting some shudders at Jared Leto's voice, which sounds strikingly similar to Heath Ledger's portrayal of the character seven years ago. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait till August 2016 for the movie's release.
