With phase 2 fully underway, all of us are jumping at the chance to go out and meet our friends and family. However, going out in groups of five can be hassle — especially if you're the sixth wheel. If you're still paranoid from mingling with the weekend crowd — but are too bored out of your mind to continue staying at home — here's some virtual events to entertain yourself with over the long election weekend.

Film | Kino Lounge by Shaw Theatres

Cinemas might be opening their doors next week, but not all of us have fingers fast enough to make a reservation, or fancy crowding in a theatre with a group of 50. Luckily for you, Shaw Theatres is bringing a slice of movie magic to your home with Kino Lounge. What sets the virtual cinema platform apart from its physical counterpart is its specially curated list of movies. Most of the titles are not screened in local cinemas, and are only exclusively available on Kino Lounge. Currently, it’s showing the squirm-inducing psychological thriller Swallow as wek as unconventional documentaries The Painter and the Thief, and Spaceship Earth.

Art | Passengers

Born in 1998, up and coming local artist Faris Heizer exhibited at three group exhibitions in “Raw Forms”, “Diptych” and under the collective, The Right Belief in “Orthodox” at Coda Culture. In the following year, he showed at “Coda Culture Opening Party Show” as well. His solo showcase, Passengers, features the interweaving of his sporadic painting process with meta-narratives, bringing forward the flux of interplay between composition and pictorial space, and thus rendering his painting process a form of language, and his paintings the story. The exhibition runs from 29 June to 11 October at SPRMRKT at Cluny Court.

Entertainment | Electric Feel: Smells Like The 90s

Resident indie DJ duo EATMEPOPTART has been entralling locals with his indie-rock, electronica and alternative hits at local clubs for years. However with the closure of clubs, they've been staying active by streaming their boogie nights live on Twitch. From pop punk to grunge to R&B, '90s music freaks weelikeme & KiDG will take you on a cruise through the sweetest sounds of the likes of rock, pop, electronic, musicals, and more.

Food | DBS Live: Thought For Food & DBS Sparks Livestream Episode Launch

Local influencers Rozz, Munah Bagharib, and Haresh Tilani go head to head to see who comes out on top when it comes to reducing food waste, identifying odd-looking vegetables, and creating a tasty dish from food scraps in this exclusive livestream on DBS' Facebook page. Fans of DBS Sparks can also enjoy an exclusive screening of Sparks Season 2 ‘A Call to Action’, which is inspired by all the social enterprises and NGOs DBS works with to conserve and redistribute food.

Sports | ASICS x KARD Live Event

K-pop fans, rise. K-pop idol group and ASICS Sportstyle ambassador, KARD, will be presenting their live virtual event hosted on ASICS Sportstyle’s Instagram accounts over Southeast Asia. This virtual event marks the pinnacle of all GEL-10901 activities since the shoe’s launch in February 2020. They will be taking their fans through an exciting 45-minute line-up where they will stand a chance to win autographed ASICS prizes. Naturally, there will also be a live performance by the group.
