A preview of what's to come from Marni at Salone del Mobile 2017
Play by play
Marni's one of those names in fashion where either you get it, or you don't. If you do, you'll appreciate the Italian house's bold showing, notably with Francesco Risso now at its creative helm. For fashion's unitiated, you'll recognise Marni from the basket bags that you love to poke fun at — for the way it appropriates 'auntie' culture, of course — or secretly covet.
Apart from the style calendars, Marni has also been an active name in the design circuit with a yearly collection at Salone del Mobile. This installment sees them once again collaborating with local Colombian artisans by adapting traditional woven techniques to a new collection of furniture. To be presented at its space at Viale Umbria 42, a stretch of sand will form the playground of Marni, where seats, stools, rocking chairs and chairs invite you to interact and unleash their potential. Hand crafted from metal, painted wood and woven-coloured PVC cord, each punch-coloured piece sits cleverly outdoors as well as in the living room. You'll do good by taking one home, too — part of the proceeds from the sale of the products will be donated to the Only The Brave Foundation.
