Don't know this name? You're about to get introduced to Singapore's new electronic find, Jasmine Sokko

Need something uplifting to listen to this weekend? Check out Jasmine Sokko, an up and coming local singer-songwriter and producer. She's just released her single and accompanying music video called 1057, or LOST — the former's a numeric version of the latter's terminology.

It's a uplifting electronic number, something we expect to sonically escape to on sunset sessions at the beach. With a cocktail in hand, expect to sway along to Sokko's chorus as she hooks you in with the melancholic "you don't know my name, you don't even care", which sound chillingly alike one hit wonder Augustana's Boston back in 2005. And while the American rock troupe might have been harping on about failed relationships, this newbie's message remarkably differs. 1057 is Sokko's search for individuality in this post-Internet world, where people are defined by their number of followers, likes and thumbs up — for better for worse.

Mixed by Yllis (also known as Monster Cat frontman Wang Wei Yang), 1057 is an addictive taste of more things to come from Jasmine Sokko. Look out for her Spotify and iTunes release later this month by Yllis's new label, 13 Orphans Records.
