Five things to do this weekend: 31 July - 2 August
Eat drink love
A weekend worth waiting for
FOOD AND DRINK | koskos hour
Enter your new cocktail hour at Hong Leng Building. Sure, the 40-year old CBD building hasn't exactly been movin' and shakin', but with inaugural event koskos hour, it'll bring a whole slew of culture kids to the nondescript kiosk. Housing the holy trinity of participants — bartenders, barbers and DJs — this underground (literally) event serves up spiked sodas by Citizen Pop, craft cocktails from Fordham & Grand as well as har cheong gai (deep fried prawn paste-coated chicken) waffle cones, dry laksa, crayfish and BBQ pork rolls from koskos. DJ weelikeme's on hand to spin his signature indie-dance mixes.
From 6pm. koskos is located at B1-34 Hong Leong Building.
MUSIC | 100+50 Bands Festival
You'd never think there would be so much local music to listen to. There are, and 150 of them will be performing it at Bedok Reservoir, a favourite East-sider hangout. The 100 Bands festival is back, and this time, they're roped in 50 electronic acts in their bill. It's the garden festival you've been waiting for — so turn up in your fixies, grab some quick grub and catch the likes of Charlie Lim, Pleasantry, Anechois and Hanging Up The Moon.
31 July to 2 August, Bedok Reservoir.
CULTURE | 50 Scents of Singapore
Nothing quite emotes a memory as well as a scent and AllSense taps into this memory-maker as part of their SG50 tribute. One year in the making, the project by these scent-sters (they design fragrances you smell in shops and hotels around Singapore) is a collaborative effort between local perfumers and flavourists, as well as the International Flavours and Fragrances (IFF). The result is an extensive library of well-known icons that locals have grown up with, such as the 'Orchard Road Ice Cream Sandwich', 'Toa Payoh Fried Carrot Cake' and 'Changi Airport Singapore Airlines Tea Towels'. Have a whiff and embark on the suggested scent tours this weekend.
31 July to 12 August, 10am to 10pm at Garden Court, Level 1, Raffles City Shopping Centre
SHOP | Lepark Flea Market
Like fast cars and fast (gourmet) food? Lepark's the way to go this weekend. Their collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, who'll be showcasing their CLA Shooting Brake brings together retail therapy with the likes of handcrafted jewellery and products from Sifr, as well as performances with Goodfellas, Riot !n Magenta and The Good Life Project in this rooftop carnival and flea market.
1 August, 4pm at the rooftop at People's Park Complex
