Five things to do this weekend: 11 - 13 December
PARTY | ZoukOut 2015
We'd say this event needs no introduction, but we'll give it one anyway. ZoukOut has, for many years, been the end of the year blowout. With some of the most buzz-worthy lineups to hit Singapore's EDM scene, the party will unfortunately be taking its final bow this year. With acts like Porter Robinson and DJ Snake on the line, we're down for moshing as hard as we can this weekend – for the last time. For an early hint of the action, check out our playlist of the lineup's best.
11 December, 8pm - 5am and 12 December, 8pm - 8am at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. More details here.
GIG | Bliss-Out 2015
If you're of the impression that yoga is the terrain of spaced out hippies, you might want to think again. Not only is it calming on the mind and great exercise to keep fit, it's also a way for you to catch New Zealand outfit The Naked and Famous, and local darling Inch Chua. Hosted by JustRunLah, Bliss-Out is a gig and yoga party combined, all at the sprawling expanse of The Meadow at Gardens By The Bay.
12 December, 5pm at The Meadow, Gardens By The Bay. More details here.
LAUNCH | Kult Kafe Grand Opening Weekender
Fear and Loathing in Lorong Chuan, Bedok Reservoir Dogs, and Total Redhill – these are just some of the genius, locally inspired puns on Kult's artwork, accompanied by edgy visuals. The multi-disciplinary group is now launching Kult Kafe, a bar and performance space. Join the party this weekend, where they'll be showcasing their choice pieces at the Kult Gallery, along with food, drinks, and some killer performances.
12 December, 5pm - 2am at The Lock-in and 13 December, 2 - 10pm at Sideshow Sunday. More details here.
COMEDY | CRAZY CHRISTMAS - A groundNUTCRACKER
If you're someone who prefers a little spice in their Christmas celebrations, we'd look no further than Dream Academy's end-of-the-year bash. In commemoration of both the Academy's 15th birthday as well as the festive season, expect only the most raucous of performances, by comedy heavyweights like Dim Sum Dollies and Kumar. If the trailer below is enough to pique your interest, we'd recommend grabbing your tickets now.
10 - 19 December, 8pm from Tuesday to Saturday, 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. More details here.
POETRY | Migrant Worker Poetry Competition 2015
When's the time to honour the incredible work that migrants are doing in Singapore? Always is the answer, and this Sunday is one of those days. Rather than casting the spotlight on the hatefulness of xenophobia, this competition is giving attention to the literary talents of migrant workers. Poetry transcends all kinds of boundaries – language, race, ethnicity, borders – and this weekend, it's giving a voice to the people who deserve one. Check out last year's winning poem, Pocket 2 by Zakir Hossain Khokhon, below.
13 December, 6.50pm at National Library. More details here.
