Danish furniture label Montana and P5 Studio collaborate with 8 local design and architecture practices
Following the opening of its 4,000 sq ft retail space in Henderson Industrial Park last year, design purveyor P5 Studio has teamed up with family-owned Danish furniture label Montana to launch 'freeplay — vol. 1', an annual design competition. After an open invitation for design proposals based on Montana's 36 modules — that are available in four depths and 42 colours — last year, eight local design and architecture practices were shortlisted: Archetype Studio, ASOLIDPLAN, The Carpenter's Workshop, The Monocot Studio, Provolk, SM(ALL), UPSTAIRS_ and WYNK Collaborative. Their eight unique designs led Montana's SG collection and retail exclusively at P5 Studio.
WYNK Collaborative's Totem, was announced as the winning design on 24 January at the freeplay industry presentation at P5 Studio. It will compete with other designs from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Philippines and Australia at the 2020 3daysofdesign festival in Denmark. One regional winner will be selected to be included in the Montana International Collection, based on a storage solution that is adaptable, multi-functional, sustainable, and obviously, possessing a high aesthetic appeal.
