A silent disco in a disused power station isn't the first thing that comes to mind when we think of great Singaporean authors and writing, but that's exactly how homegrown literary festival #BuySingLit is attempting to change perceptions and raise awareness about local literature. Its fourth edition features 60 programmes that are set to take place islandwide over two weekends in March.

Here are some highlights to look forward to.

Modern: Resonance II

When: 6 to 7 March
Where: Pasir Panjang Power Station
What: When 'Modern: Resonance' was first presented in September last year, tickets were snapped up quickly. Visual artist Alecia Neo, sound artist Li-Chuan Chong, and spoken word poet Deborah Emmanuel come together to respond to the rarely accessible venue's Bauhaus-influenced architecture and past generations of workers.

Glorious, Monstrous, Hantu Tales from Singapore

When: 6 to 7 March 2020
Where: Pasir Panjang Power Station
What: Live performance, film, and writing intermingle in this haunting live performance piece. Previously presented at the London Literature Festival last year, the production draws from the writing of Singaporean writers including Sharlene Teo's Ponti and Cyril Wong's Let Me Tell You Something About That Night.

Tickets are available now.

Sing Lit Sounds: A Silent Disco

When: 6 to 7 and 13 to 14 March
Where: The Arts House and Pasir Panjang Power Station
What: Local musicians .gif, Fauxe, and Mantravine will perform melodies taken from Sing Lit classics. Simply throw on a pair of wireless headphones and groove alongside 50 others. Tickets are priced at $5.

Textures — A Weekend with Words
