What to expect from Art Stage Singapore 2018
Back for its eighth edition, Art Stage Singapore will bring together enthusiasts and collectors to Singapore Art Week's anchor event. This time, they're introducing Thailand as the country focus, fuelled by the country's growth in the art sector for the past one and a half years. With new professional art galleries sprouting up in Thailand, this encouragement has pushed Art Stage Singapore to focus on Thai-led exhibitions and special projects. Galleries participating in this Thailand exclusive are Numthong Gallery, Tang Contemporary, Richard Koh Fine Art, Whitespace Gallery Bangkok, 1Projects, Nova Gallery, Number1gallery and S.A.C. Gallery Bangkok.
Another element Art Stage Singapore is introducing next year is a peek into the collector's private collections. Interested guests can visit a showcase where Singapore collectors display their art collection that won't normally see the light of day away from their own residences. Opening a dialogue between the art collector and prospective, younger buyers, it's an encouraging platform for discussion and critique.
The Southeast Asia Forum returns, this time with a theme titled 'Art Meets Design: Cultural Trend or Fashionable Lifestyle?' Fans of The Artling will be pleased to note the online gallery's collaboration with Art Stage Singapore, which will feature Singapore's first Asian-focused showcase on collectibles. Browse through original and existing works from furniture, lighting and textiles. An accompanying exhibition and series of lectures also explore multi-disciplinary issues that have impacted Southeast Asia.
Art Stage Singapore 2018 runs from 26 to 28 January at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre Level 1, Halls A - C.
