Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announces an addition of a 14-acre Star Wars-themed land at Disneyland and Walt Disney World
Be prepared to be transported to a galaxy far, far away.
Disney Parks' largest single-themed expansion won't have you sitting at the edge of your seat clutching fistfuls of popcorn. Instead, it'll put you right in the thick of it — it being an otherworldly land set in Disneyland in California and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. While no news of its completion date have been announced, Disney reveals that visitors can expect a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and the chance to steer your own Millenium Falcon on customisable secret missions.
How's that for a summer getaway? You can even rock up in a gold bikini à la Princess Leia to really get into the festivities.
The announcement comes after news that Colin Trevorrow is poised to director Star Wars Episode IX, set for release in 2019. Trevorrow, recently responsible for directing action hit Jurassic World, will conclude the third trilogy of Star Wars movies that begins with Star Wars: The Force Awakens this December.
