Ulysses for Tuff Club: Buro 24/7 Singapore Playlist #150

When the going gets Tuff

Musical host Ulysses shares a playlist to burn up a sweat ahead of Tuff Club's opening this week

Regular exercise is always recommended and I have specially crafted an eclectic playlist that's fun and all about keeping fit. It also compliments the new space, Tuff Club, that's opening up in the next few days. You'll find slow chuggers to dance floor bangers from past to present. Stretch those glutes and loosen up your muscles with a deep and emotive tune featuring the beautiful vocals of Swedish singer La Oberg. 'Ways Of The Sun' is one of those tunes that's just right to start the night. Frankey & Sandrino will be making their Singapore debut at the Tuff Club with details to be announced shortly.

The bleeps and bass tones with a controlled tribal rhythmic pattern that's sure to elevate your heart rate and create more mobility in your joints for even bigger and faster bouts of workout is Hans Berg & Johanna Knutsson's 'Taggen’. This Swedish sound artist, producer and live performer debuts at the Tuff Club for the month of April 2018.

Lauer's whole EP pretty much sums up the sounds of summer holiday fun amidst Balearic sunsets and Adriatic sunrises. The title track 'Phlipper' is an Italo disco chug laced with stonewashed synths and hands in the open night air melodies. Lauer will be returning to our shores once again mid April 2018. It took Philip Lauer to remind me - when he dropped this at The Council's Openair Rooftop party - that Cyndi Lauper's 1984 pop classic, 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' can put a smile and still make people dance and have fun after 33 years!

You can't go wrong with the classic by Bas Noir, ‘My Love Is Magic (Club Mix)’. It always gets the ladies to the dance floor. A great way to end the workout night and bring down your heart rate is with renowned Chicago DJ legend Ron Trent's 'Boogie Down.' It moves away from his usual deep house sounds and brings us back to the Minneapolis funk of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. This also pays tribute to the late great legendary artist Prince. Rest in peace.

Ulysses James is the musical host for TUFF CLUB, the first ever pop-up nightclub in Singapore by The Council. Tuff Club is open from 5 April for three months only at 138 Robinson Road, #19-01.
