Buro Backseat: The Sam Willows sing a special Chinese New Year cover
Barking, juggling and breaking into song... is there anything that local musicians The Sam Willows can't do? Going into their sixth year as a group, siblings Benjamin and Narelle Kheng and their friends Sandra Riley Tang and Jon Chua are clearly tight. We see this in their harmonisations and banter, roving around like a travelling pack of minstrels with guitars strapped to their backs and traversing from folk to pop and back.
On the way to Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa to celebrate Chinese New Year, we hear a spirited, melancholic version of 'Gongxi Gongxi' that details the thrills and spills we encounter every festive occasion: From facing off overbearing aunties to raking up angbaos. What's new with the Willows? After seeing them live at a year-end countdown party last year, we're looking forward to the release of two new singles this month: 'Robot' and 'Papa Money'. A full-fledged album in April is also in the works, so stay tuned.
Celebrate Chinese New Year at Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa. Join in the Majestic Dragon Trail, a reimagined spectacle based on the traditional dragon dance. Look forward to the Fu Fighters show, where b-boy crew The Rockafellas will combine acrobatics and martial art demonstrations, set against a state-of-the-art projection mapping at the New York Public Library. You can also check out the singing and dancing waitresses of Hollywood's famous drive-in restaurant, Mel's Dinettes.
