National Day: Sign this parody petition to make The Killers' "Mr Brightside" the NDP song in 2020
Destiny is calling
Who could possibly fault Nick W, though? While it failed to make a great impression when it was first released in 2003, the indie-rock track steadily climbed the charts when it was re-released as a single as part of The Killers' full-length album in 2004. Since the track's MV was released on YouTube in June 2009, "Mr Brightside" has not only achieved an astounding 337 million views, but it has also garnered a cult-like status for its meme-worthy lyrics and party beats. And if you need more proof of its timeless appeal, the song has been on UK's Official Singles Top 100 chart for 209 weeks and counting.
On 24 July, in an effort to raise more support for his petition, Nick W wrote: "Now I'm falling asleep and yet they aren't calling a Grab. Would be cool if we can get 5 likes for this petition. Share this around and hopefully we can get The Killers to come sing for free. My stomach is sick though".
