Resham Melwani of Maiasa Yoga: Buro 24/7 Singapore Playlist #134
These are the tunes and lyrics that lift and help me enjoy through exercise, yoga and motherhood. My favourite track to listen to while running is ‘Walking In My Shoes’ by Depeche Mode, especially when I'm feeling dark and moody. ‘Alive’ by Empire Of The Sun is for days when I feel happy and light and just want to keep going. After all, music transports us to a more positive state of mind.
For yoga, I prefer tracks that I can flow with — ‘Magic’ by Coldplay goes well with the Ashtanga practise. It was my childhood best friend who suggested I try practising to it and she was right. With the lyrics and beats, it keeps me moving and breathing in perfect synchronicity and it’s truly a beautiful dance — living day to day, breathing with gratitude and believing in magic.
‘Feel’ by Leisure Suite is something new that I came across. I just love her voice, it gives me goosebumps. I enjoy listening to tracks like this when I'm winding down in the evenings. It’s also tracks by old school acts like 'Lullaby' by The Cure, who has the most haunting voice. I love listening to Flume while on the computer researching and working on my creative designs. His track, ‘Say It’ with Tove Lo screams women's empowerment in a loud and clear vibe.
