#ThrowbackThursday: Backstreet Boys

They're larger than life, they've rocked your body and they've quit playing games with your heart. They're also touted to be the best-selling boy band of all time. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson exploded onto the scene as the Backstreet Boys more than two decades ago. Ever since the band's humble beginnings with the self-titled first record in 1996, they've gone on to define what it means to look and sound like a '90s boyband —conceptualised music videos, choreographed dance moves and coordinated costumes galore. While they briefly took some time off from the music scene in the mid 2000s, they kept up with the times with an album in 2013, In a World Like This.
A world tour united old fans and introduced new ones, with a Las Vegas residency sealing their deal in the entertainment industry once again. Appealing to a new generation of audiences, they've also performed at the Balmain and H&M collaboration launch party and have signaled interest to collaborate with the likes of Zedd, Diplo and The Chainsmokers for their upcoming studio album.
The boys were last in Singapore in 2015. Their return is hotly anticipated — in the meantime, scroll our gallery above for a look at the teenage dreamboats you used to pine for.
Backstreet Boys will perform at the Sports Hub on 21 October in conjunction with the 2017 WTA Finals. Tickets on sale from 8 September, 10am online and at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Box Office and all SingPost outlets islandwide.
