Tune into Ava Asante before her set at Garden Beats Festival 2017 this weekend

Fancy yourself as a "peaceful warrior" or "modern Amazon"? You might have something in common with AVA Asante, a musical gift hailing all the way from Ghana. Descending upon our shores to bring her hypnotic African beats, she's writes and produces her own music, carrying her haunting voice over sounds from the electric violin, African drums and keyboard. Not only that, she makes her own clothes, does her own hair and makeup, and is basically everything you'd never expect to hear or see in Singapore.

Said to be descended from a Ghanaian king, Asante's brand of electronic earth music will see crowds raising their arms in sweet surrender. Joining Asante at Sunshine Nation's Garden Beats festival are Tube & Berger, Teenage Mutants, Nils Hoffman and Autograf. Get ready to dance up a glorious, African-inspired storm within the lush greens of Fort Canning. Make. It. Rain.

Ava Asante will be performing at Garden Beats Festival 2017 on 18 March from 1pm at FortGate, Fort Canning Park. Book tickets here. For last week's #WomanCrushWednesday, click here.
