A lot can happen in a supermarket and dining hall late into the night. With habitat by honestbee's new extended opening hours (till 12am on Friday and Saturday), I often find myself cruising the aisles looking for an ingredient...Or a cutie that'll surprise me. You know, the kind where sparks fly when we're both reaching for a bottle of DOP-certified balsamic vinegar  the stuff of movies from the likes of Nancy Meyers and Richard Linklater.

When curating a playlist for late-night grocery shopping, it's easy to fall back on songs that have actual food ingredients in them, like Drake's "Passionfruit" or Rufus Wainwright's "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk". But at habitat by honestbee, grocery-shopping is a multi-sensory experience that's more than just about finding something to feed yourself. It's therapeutic as it is exciting, and something you can enjoy in sweet solitude or with fellow foodie friends.

I've chosen an '80s classic from Hall & Oates to set the mood. "You Make My Dreams" provides the perfect endorphin burst of feel-good romancing, something habitat by honestbee wishes for anyone who walks through our doors. Romancing isn't strictly about affection for another, but also a love of food and pleasures of the palate. Camera Obscura and Lykke Li's upbeat, melancholy-tinged tracks fall under the same vein.

The Velvet Underground's "I'll Be Your Mirror" is such an underrated love song, especially with Nico's unique voice. If one song could encapsulate our famous Japanese soufflé pancakes, it'll be Nancy Sinatra's "Sugar Town", where saccharine comforts lie in both her vocals and our poofy, edible clouds. Winding things down, Leon Bridges' "River" is a soulful tune that carries lightness and hope in his rich, honest words. Finally, Andra Day's cover of "What the World Needs Now Is Love" is the pared-back, meditative closure you need at the end of the day.
