Video interview with Yuna: On her playlist, next album and attempt at a Valley Girl accent
Next door neighbour
In town last week for a concert, Yuna charmed us with her part-serious, part-cheeky appeal and fangirl moments for Justin Bieber
What's not to love about Yuna?
The 28-year-old Malaysia-raised, Los Angeles-based songstress has charmed us from the very start; from her Myspace and Youtube videos to her performances in venues such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Ultra. With four albums to her name, she's currently signed with Verve Records and has worked with the likes of Pharrell and Incubus.
But on a particularly hazy afternoon — as most afternoons are these days — the folk-pop artist found herself back in next door neighbour Singapore for a show in the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands. She's been here before, performing in smaller venues such as The Arts House — but when international stardom has arrived at your doorstep, a larger crowd beckons.
Before she swapped her chic, dressed-down ensemble for a glittery alternative that night, Yuna sat down for a giggly chat with Buro 24/7 Singapore to share news on her latest album, as well as reveal what sound the heart makes when it breaks — pretty heavy stuff. Watch the video below.
