Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai
Actor, singer and voiceover artist

Have you been naughty or nice this year?
I've been naughtily nice, or nicely naughty. Depends how you see it.

What's on your festive wish list?
A Hublot watch, time with family, a good laptop bag, a slick pair of heels, endless Sephora vouchers, and a chicken sandwich.

How will you be spending the end-of-year holiday season?
Travelling! I'm starting in Barcelona, travelling through the cold in Switzerland and a few other cities before ending the trip with work in Berlin. I am very excited to meet new people and make new connections.

What's your favourite song/movie this time of the year?
Anything by Sinatra. As for movies, Home Alone is a quintessential classic.

Who do you wish you could kiss under the mistletoe?
Myself. Self-love is best love. Ok, maybe Chris Pine.

What's the best/worst festive present you have ever received?
I can't quite remember any. The best gift for me has always been the time that I can spend with my family.

What were your highlights/milestones of 2018?
I went to the United Kingdom for the first time ever to do a show. I performed a solo show with some incredible people that took more than a year and half to come to fruition. I lost my father. I gained some invaluable friendships. I have so much to be thankful for and grateful for this year.

How will you usher in the New Year?
Enjoying the fireworks in the city hall square of Vienna, while waltzing the night away in the open air ballroom that is the Graben.

Do you have New Year's resolutions?
Yes! I aim to be fluent in another language and learn a musical instrument by the end of 2019. Also, I intend to keep travelling, to keep learning and to keep growing.

What was the greatest lesson you have learnt in 2018?
Patience and discipline are your best friends in every field of life. I aim to do something everyday now that my future self will thank me for. I've spent too much time previously being extremely critical or filled with worry, fear and anxiety. This year, I learnt to fall and be ok with myself when that happens. I learn, I grow, and I keep going. If I don't fall, I keep climbing and not give up. Life's too short to constantly worry. There's no time like the present.

It’s the most successful selfie I have ever taken. It took me a while before I learnt how to not crop my head off and get that beloved sandwich and my face in frame. I needed 8 minutes for this. Some do it in 8 seconds.

Zahra Khanum
Miss Universe Singapore 2018

Have you been naughty or nice this year?
I have definitely been nice all year! Santa please grant my wishes this year!

What's on your festive wish list?
Hopefully make it to the Top 15 for Miss Universe Singapore and make my family and country proud this year.

How will you be spending the end-of-year holiday season?
I will be spending it with my family and friends cooking and eating delicious festive food, attending gatherings, spending some time going out and watching festive movies.

What's your favourite song/movie this time of the year?
'Santa Baby' is my favourite song and my favourite movie will have to be Home Alone. I love it, I watch all four movies every year.

Who do you wish you could kiss under the mistletoe?
That's a mystery!

What's the best/worst festive present you have ever received?
The best festive present I have ever received is the wonderful time that I get to share with my family and friends to catch up and have delicious food after a long busy year. Nothing can beat that. I would have to say that I have never gotten a terrible gift during the festive season. Everything given to me, I cherish as it came with a good intention and a heart filled with love.

What were your highlights/milestones of 2018?
My highlights this year would have to be graduating from NUS with a Bachelor's Degree and making my family proud of me. I also got a Design Internship at Chemistry Form Pte Ltd. It was a new field for me, but it was so exciting and I learnt so much about design thinking. I was part of a group production with a group of friends called Ayesha. It was a play about South Asian women and the challenges they face in society. It was a devised piece performed for two nights. The biggest milestone this year has to be joining Miss Universe Singapore 2018. It was such a transformative experience. I'm still in the process of growing to become a more fearless and confident version of myself every day thanks to the competition. I have learnt so much from the girls and found out so many things about myself throughout this competition that I never knew. If you have a dream, work towards it. It is possible. With passion, determination and belief in your dreams, anything can happen.

How will you usher in the New Year?
I will usher in the New Year with positivity and bigger plans to accomplish as Miss Universe Singapore 2018. I hope to have my own socialised programme with the organisation I am currently working with called Daughters of Tomorrow who help underprivileged women and their families gain confidence and head back into society empowered.

Do you have New Year's resolutions?
To be a stronger, better version of myself and to ensure that I continue doing things that I love and make me happy.

What was the greatest lesson you have learnt in 2018?
Believing in yourself and having the confidence and courage to go out of comfort zone and push yourself a little can do wonders. I have made friendships, new connections and memories this year that I will remember for life. It is true when they say "You are your own enemy". No one can stop you from achieving what you want unless you keep yourself from grabbing that opportunity, so grab the opportunity when it comes up because you deserve it. Never look back and regret not doing what you love.

What's on your festive wish list?
I'm hoping Santa's gonna come through with:
1. Autechre NTS Sessions Box Set LP
2. Plane tickets to anywhere for the Middle Class Cigars family
3. A Nakamichi Dragon tape deck for us to dub our cassettes
4. A new music venue in Singapore

How will you be spending the end-of-year holiday season?
Catching up with friends and family who have been away and probably re-watching The Office for the umpteen time.

What's your favourite song/movie this time of the year?
Hands down, Beach House's 'I Do Not Care for the Winter Sun'. Beach House's signature chimes will always guarantee a festive mood.

Who do you wish you could kiss under the mistletoe?
My Martha Stewart scoring board. We use this to score all of the inserts for our cassettes. We've done over 800 cards. It's the best $30 purchase of my life. Thanks, Martha.

What's the worst festive present you have ever received?
Having an incredibly high fever of about 40°C during Christmas when I was 10 and I still believed in Santa.

What were your highlights of 2018?
1. Being able to catch Autechre (and many other unforgettable musicians) live in Tasmania, at the phenomenal Dark Mofo festival
2. My trip to Vietnam earlier this year
3. Another Party at Intermission Bar
4. Sobs' Album Launch Party (I'm sorry I wasn't there, also: *biggest regret of 2018*)
5. Subsonic Eye's Launch Party
6. Having all of the bands under Middle Class Cigars play shows outside of Singapore, and have fans from all over sing along to the songs.

How will you usher in the New Year?
I'll be spending the New Year's Eve with my family in Bali (first time there!), sipping on some cocktails by the beach.

Do you have New Year's resolutions?
For the music on Middle Class Cigars to reach out to a wider audience and have our bands tour places they've never been.

What was the greatest lesson you have learnt in 2018?
Treasure your loved ones.
