Illustrator Andre Wee: Visual Questionnaire #15
World of his own
It was only in April last year when Andre Wee received an iMac and iPad Pro, courtesy of the not-for-profit arts organization The Meshminds Foundation that his 3D and digital illustration work began to take off.
The fine arts graduate's Augmented Reality-enabled "A Better Tomorrow" travels almost 25 years into the future, depicting a surreal and sustainable SG75. Predominantly characterized by a pleasant millennial-pink hue, the aesthetics of the resulting GIFs allude to life simulation video games such as The Sims. Upon closer inspection, however, the finely-detailed illustrations reveal unexpected nuggets of a green future: solar panels on HDB rooftops and an electric-powered public transportation network.
Take a deep dive into Andre's fascinating mind as he reveals his current obsessions in Buro's Visual Questionnaire below.
