#WomanCrushWednesday: Zoey Deutch
Up and coming
You've seen Zoey Deutch around when you probably weren't even noticing. She's slowly making a name of herself playing love interests: That of Dylan Sprouse's character on Disney Channel's The Suite Life on Deck, of Zac Efron's role in Dirty Grandpa, of James Franco's billionaire boy in Why Him?, and opposite Nicholas Hoult as J.D. Salinger in the author's biopic out next year. The 22-year-old's last name is also familiar on Hollywood's lips — she shares that with her father, director Howard Deutch, the man responsible for '80s films such as Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful. Meanwhile, her mother is actress Lea Thompson, a familiar face you've seen in '80s films (her parents met on the set of Some Kind of Wonderful). The creative gene clearly runs in her family — her sister Madelyn Deutch is also an actress.
Paving her own way through comedies and dramas, she'll also be seen in Before I Fall, a young adult Groundhog Day-like drama about a high school student who relives the same day over and over again. 2017 is set to be the "coming out" of the Californian talent to the masses — but before that, relive some of our favourite talk show moments.
1. When she confessed to shaving her pits in front of Why Him? co-star Bryan Cranston
2. When she didn't understand what her actress mother did for a living
3. When she was freaking out about Ryan Seacrest's schedule
Why Him? will be released in theatres on 29 December. For last week's #WomanCrushWednesday, click here.
