Detective Pikachu (May 2019)

Who's starring in it?
Ryan Reynolds, Suki Waterhouse, Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe

What are the first impressions?
Those who grew up playing Pokémon Yellow on their handheld Game Boy console are going to be in for a rude awakening. Pikachu, that cutesy yellow and electric incarnation of a smiley happy-go-lucky Teletubby is now voiced by the foul-mouthed Deadpool aka Ryan Reynolds in Pokémon's first-ever live action movie. The story is about a dude named Tim — sorry to disappoint but there's no Ash Ketchum here — who bands together with this husky-toned soft toy to find his missing dad in the neon-lit Ryme City where humans and Pokémon live side by side. There'll be plenty of Pokémon sightings along the way: old favourites like Bulbasaur, Charmander, Charizard, Dodrio, Jigglypuff, Pigeotto, Psyduck, Mr Mime and Squirtle feature alongside new-age releases such as Bouffalant, Braviary, Comfey, Flabebe, Greninja, Morelull and Rufflet. Who knows maybe a legendary Pokémon or two might show up?

How is the Internet reacting?
"The Squirtle Squad better appear in this movie as a street gang."

Toy Story 4 (June 2019)

Who's starring in it?
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Patricia Arquette and Joan Cusack

What are the first impressions?
Toy Story 3 ended with audiences bawling when Andy gave his toys away to Bonnie that annoyingly adorable toddler, so why would Disney ruin a near-perfect ending with a sequel? Money, money and more money. In the first teaser for Toy Story 4, almost the whole mob is present: Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Mr and Mrs Potato Head, Rex and Slinky Dog hand-in-hand, but strangely under the melancholic spell of Judy Collins's 1969 hit single 'Both Sides Now'. There's a newcomer thrown into the mix: a 'spork' named Forky who freaks out, arms wailing and screaming "I don't belong here. I'm not a toy!" Looks like Woody would be wrangling and initiating this psycho in this upcoming plotline.

How is the Internet reacting?
"No more depression."
