'The Beach Bum': Watch the red band trailer for Harmony Korine's latest stoner flick starring Matthew McConaughey

Alright, alright, alright

Director Harmony Korine's last full-length film was way back in 2012, the trashy The Spring Breakers, which starred a baby-cheeked Selena Gomez in a slinky two-piece turquoise bikini. Korine took some time off after, stepping away from the camera and into his studio to churn out some pretty questionable VHS tape-based paintings.

This March, he returns with The Beach Bum starring the oh-so-cool Matthew McConaughey as Moondog, a free-spirited, thong-wearing stoner who's intent on getting rich by publishing his weed-induced musings. Retro Hawaiian-printed outfits, a cocaine-addicted Macaw and gigantic spliffs — the louche dude seems to be having the time of his life. McConaughey's chill performance is underpinned by a high-calibre cast too: a sexed-up Isla Fischer plays his love interest Minnie, rapper Snoop Dogg is aptly cast as the robe-wearing Lingerie (probably his dealer), comedian Martin Lawrence makes an appearance as the good-for-nothing Captain Wack, and last but certainly not least, a buff Zac Efron steals the show with some hardcore sideburns. Oh, and keep a lookout for skinny Jonah Hill somewhere in there too.

There's no news on a release date in Singapore just yet though. You could possibly blame that on the wacky flick's R-rated depiction of heavy drug and alcohol use, offensive language, occasional nudity and strong sexual content. A day in the life of Matthew McConaughey, we would imagine.

The Beach Bum arrives in theatres in the U.S. and selected countries around the world on 21 March 2019.
