Ryan Gosling teams up with Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys, a comedy about two men hired to solve a mystery in '70s Los Angeles
Ryan Gosling is part of Hollywood's new power couple. Nope, he hasn't left Eva Mendes – in fact, they duo just welcomed a new daughter – but his on-screen "bromance" with co-star Russell Crowe is the talk of the town. With Gosling as a private investigator and Crowe as an enforcer in The Nice Guys, these bumbling heroes take on '70s Los Angeles in all its smut-loving, mob-fearing glory. The unlikely comedic duo has been charming the socks off reporters and hosts during their press tour of the movie. At the press conference in the Cannes Film Festival, they joked about how they obtained their on-screen chemistry — through digital effects, apparently — and whether or not there should be a sequel. Only writer-director Shane Black (of Iron Man 3) was able to keep a straight face. It's great to see Gosling take on a comedic role again, this time without his romantic chops. As for Crowe, while we haven't quite forgiven him for his performance in Les Miserables, this might just be the role that redeems him. Watch the trailer below.
The Nice Guys opens in theatres on 19 May. For last week's #ManCrushMonday, click here.
